Does anybody know where I can get a hold of a mallory YL-spring kit (part# 29015). apparently there isn't a spring kit left in the world...
are there maybe alternative spring kits to set the advance curve?
I was already able to find a new cap and rotor, but haven't managed to locate a new alternative for the spring kit...

thank you!

There were a few posts about the spring kit a while back. Try searching there was an alternate part number from jegs or something but they might have all been out of stock.

You mean one of these, never used, bought ten plus years ago, wrong kit for the distributor I had, non returnable, been on ebay three times, hauled to a dozen or more swap meets, most interest was when somebody would pick it up, read the instruction sheet then ask what it was for. Do not have the original bag but all the springs are there.

Sorry this doesn't answer you question, but where did you source the cap? Summit lists both in stock, and I received the rotor, but the cap has been on back order for months. It's "supposed" to ship at the end of this month, but I'm getting the feeling the backorder status will just drag on.

Its off a early flathead 4cyl. Jeep.

Go to a decent (NOT o'reilly, or autozone) parts store.

Ask for a Standard AL-134. If the poor kid behind the counter can't function when provided a part number, tell him its for a '55 Jeep CJ 4cyl.

There are at least two different styles of rotors, and none of the new ones fit really good. They are also a Standard part number. I have it written down at home. You might ask to see the rotor of the same Jeep.

I have had the best luck with the expensive Mallory points and condensers.

I also think Chevy HEI style advance springs will get you really close with a little tweaking.

Brian

Nice - I got some hits online already. The pictures "look" right. TheSamba.com :: Performance/Engines/Transmissions - View topic (82)

My appologies for stepping on the original question.

ok, I have a new question concerning this distributor.
I can't find the info on the one I have so I hope someone here can help me out.
It seems to me that I have a mallory dual point distributor, but I can't set the degrees, but for as far as I can find, all mallory distributors should be adjustable..
for the rest it looks like the others I've seen on the interweb...

thank you,

glauco

I know this is an old post but was building a 57 Chevy Gasser and I used the Mallory
Yl482hp distributor Which uses the kit you posted, If you still have it I’d be willing to purchase it , I joined the site to be able to pm ya but it’s telling me I have to wait a day....so I’m reviving the thread.

Sorry long gone, but you should hang out here, you just might get converted from the water pumper to an air cooled world.

Just kidding I reside on both sides, love the VW's then adore the street rod and muscle car scene.
